Field Notes

Three things the agents closing the most deals do differently

Small decisions that compound. The agents closing deals on this system do these. The ones who struggle skip them.

01
Email Deliverability

Set up a dedicated sending domain

A dedicated sending domain doubles your email deliverability. Use any domain you own, just not the one running your main website or email. Need a new one? Register it inside the CRM for about $20 a year.

How to set it up
  1. Log into app.iul.org.
  2. Click Settings → Email Services.
  3. Follow the prompt to connect your domain.
  4. No domain yet? Buy one under Settings → Domains & URL Redirects.
Why it matters

Set it up once. It runs forever. Your primary domain stays clean while the dedicated one carries the load.

02
Billing Hygiene

Raise your auto refill to $25 or $50

By default, the CRM refills your balance in $10 increments. Every refill is another card transaction, and any one can fail: a bank flag, an expired card, a temporary hold. When that happens, your sending stops at the worst possible moment.

Bumping the refill to $25 or $50 cuts transactions by more than half. It's like filling the tank instead of buying gas one gallon at a time.

Change this even if you just bought credits. It won't charge until your current balance runs out, but when it does, the larger refill is locked in.

How to change it
  1. Go to usage.iul.org.
  2. Find Auto Recharge on your wallet balance.
  3. Set the refill to $25 or $50. Safe to do anytime.
The principle

Every card transaction is a chance for something to break. Make fewer of them.

03
Sales Mechanics

Close on the first call. Always.

If you have a prospect on the phone, there's no good reason to let them off without asking for the business.

The expensive habit is the pre-emptive follow up. You sense friction, offer to schedule a call back, and feel professional doing it. What you actually did was hand them an objection they hadn't formed yet, then walk away before you closed.

Hold the conversation. Surface the objection. Answer it. Ask for the close. Worst case they say no, which is the same outcome you'd get three days later, except now you have your afternoon back.

Rule of thumb

The follow up call is where deals go to die. If you can hear their voice, you can ask for the business.
